Our Stay at the Water’s Edge Shoreside Suites:
Avy and stayed at the Water’s Edge in 2020 while on a family trip to Ucluelet. We were travelling with my parents, 2 sisters, their spouses and teenage/adult children. We booked 3 suites – 2 without dogs and one dog-friendly suite that Avy and I shared with my parents. Our site was lovely with a separate bedroom and living room with pull out couch (where I slept) and kitchen. I brought along Avy’s bed so she had a comfy place to sleep as well! Note that you will need to bring bedding and dog bowls as they are not provided.
The only downside to the room that it was on the second floor – which meant going up a set of stairs to access it – and then when you opened the suite door there was another set of stairs to get up to the suite itself. not a HUGE deal but a bit of a hike when hauling in bags, etc. It would definitely be challenging for anyone (or any dog) with mobility issues.
My favourite thing about the suite was the balcony where the 4 of us (my parents, me and Avy) enjoyed coffee each morning, overlooking the marina. It was lovely watching the boats head out for the day as we got our day started.
The hotel grounds are quite large and my 2 sisters had suites about a 5 minute walk away. There was a small beach outside their suites so we took our chairs over in the evening and enjoyed a glass of wine while enjoying the view. We even saw a dog heading out on a paddle board (definitely not something Avy would be up for!)
The hotel was in a great location with restaurants, hikes and beaches nearby. We enjoyed walking the Wild Pacific Trail (Avy especially loved this part) and visited Halfmoon Bay – a favourite beach. We also booked appointments in the hotel spa and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Overall a fun and relaxing experience, and I loved having Avy there for all of it
