Are dogs allowed on Acadia Beach?
Yes! Acadia beach is an official off-leash dog friendly beach! Your dog is welcome to roam the shore and go for a swim leash free. Located in the Point Grey neighbourhood of Vancouver and within Pacific Spirit Regional Park, Acadia Beach has beautiful views of the harbor and the North Shore Mountains. It is just a 5 minute walk west of the popular dog beach at Spanish Banks Park but Acadia is a much quieter area and is perfect if your dog does better in a less crowded environment.
The beach is very rocky – unlike the sandy beach at the nearby Spanish Banks Park, but there is plenty of room for dogs to run and swim.
Just above the beach is a picnic area complete with picnic tables, garbage cans, recycling bins, a dog waste bin, hot charcoal disposal and a bathroom. From here you will find a trail heading west which follows the shoreline. It takes you past the Acadia Beach clothing optional area (the northern end of Wreck Beach) and up the hill towards the University of British Columbia. The picnic area and the trail are on-leash only.
There is a very small parking area at the entrance to the beach and picnic area, however given the limited number of spaces it fills up quickly on sunny days. If you are not able to find a spot in the lot we suggest parking in one of the large lots at Spanish banks and walking down the beach to the Acadia beach area.
