Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park is located on the Fraser River at the foot of Byrne Road. The off-leash area is a large unfenced field. The northwest end of the field opens up to the Byrne Creek Dyke Trail, which is also off-leash.
From there, the dyke trail heads northeast and is off-leash on both sides of the creek until North Fraser Way.
From there, only the east side of the creek is off-leash. It continues on for about a half kilometer, to the railroad tracks next to the entrance to Riverway Golf Course.
The hike is about two kilometers round trip and is beautiful on a sunny day.
There are also plenty of on-leash trails along The Fraser River which are definitely worth exploring.
