The Oyster River Nature Park Trail (also called the "Pub to Pub" or Salmon Point Trail) is an approximately 4km out and back trail that runs along the beautiful Pacific Ocean on Vancouver Island, BC. It is part of the Strathcona Regional District.
We accessed the trail from the North end, next to the Salmon Point RV Resort. It can also be accessed from the South end. The parking lot for the park is at the South end. Starting at the parking lot you can follow the Jack Hames Trail to access the "Pub to Pub" walk. This part of the walk goes along the waterfront.
The trail does go through some private property, so please be respectful of the space as you cross it. There is signage noting where the private property boundaries are.
Signage for the Oyster River Nature Park indicates that "dogs must be leashed and/OR kept under obedient control". We understood that to mean that as long as your dog has excellent recall and is not disruptive to wildlife or other trail users, it can be off-leash.
There are plenty of places along the trail where you can allow your dog to go for a swim. Relax and enjoy the stunning views. The pictures below hardly do it justice - it is worth visiting for yourself!
