Dog-Friendly Sovereign Lake Nordic Area:

The Sovereign Lake Nordic Area offers a pooch pass which allows humans to take their dog along with them on some of the cross-country ski trails. It is important to note that dogs are not allowed on the snowshoe trails at Sovereign Lake.

If you wish to take your dog to Sovereign Lake, you must be a SNLC Club Member. You must also purchase a dog season pass (including providing a picture of your dog for the pass). Passes are not transferable between dogs.

On leash dogs are permitted in the following areas, under the full control of their owners:

  • Wylie’s Loop and Montezuma complex (Montezuma, Montezuma Revenge, and White Elephant) all known as “The Zuma’s”, are to be used as the SLNC Dog Trails.
  • The route to the Zuma’s is from the south end of the lower parking lot next to the sliding hill, onto Wylies Loop heading left and accessing the stadium adjacent the fly-over bridge at the terminus of Wylies Loop at the Stadium. There are marked signs for you to follow.

If you are planning to take your dog to Sovereign Lake Nordic area you must read the dog use policy first. Dog owners are also required to read and sign the dog owners code of conduct form.

If you are planning to visit Silver Star Mountain you may also venture in to Vernon, which is just a short drive away. Vernon has many off-leash dog parks and trails, you can check out our directory listings for Vernon and head out to explore!

Silver Star Mountain Resort which is a short drive up the road from the Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre features dog-friendly snowshoe trails. You must purchase a pass to use the resort trails.

If you are looking for something a bit less populated, there are also dog-friendly snowshoe trails within Silver Star Provincial Park. These trails are free to use, and there is parking available. Dogs must be on-leash when using the snowshoe trails.
