New Westminster “Dog Relief Station”

Have you ever been in the position of having to walk your dog in the downtown core of any city?   If so you can probably relate to the problem of there being nowhere for your dog to relieve themselves. And is there anything worse than your dog squatting on the sidewalk while tourists, shoppers and people who work in the area look on disapprovingly?

New Westminster thinks they may have found the solution to this problem – a “dog relief station”.  Located on the corner of Begbie and Columbia streets is a small, enclosed grassy area where dog owners can take their dogs to do their business.  The program is on trail for a year and dog owners are encouraged to make use of it.  We will be watching this trial closely, here’s hoping it will catch on in other cities.
