Osoyoos Off-Leash Dog Park, Osoyoos, BC
Osoyoos Off-Leash Dog Park is a well-equipped off-leash space located at the West Bench Complex, right next to Osoyoos Secondary School. The park occupies a former ball diamond that’s since been converted into fully-fenced space for dogs, and it connects directly to the Irrigation Canal Trail — making it easy to extend your visit with an on-leash walk before or after off-leash time.
Inside the Park
The park is split into two fully-fenced enclosures: one for small dogs and one for large dogs, giving owners some flexibility depending on their dog’s size and temperament. Both enclosures sit on a grass surface across a gently sloping hillside, giving dogs a bit of natural terrain to run and explore rather than flat, packed ground.
Each enclosure includes a small covered area where owners can take shelter on rainy days — a thoughtful touch, since the Okanagan gets its share of both scorching summer heat and the occasional downpour. Both sides of the park also include a couple of pieces of agility equipment and a drinking water source for dogs, so you don’t need to bring your own bowl for a shorter visit.
We visited the park ourselves in January, and it was genuinely nice to be able to stand under cover in the fenced enclosure while our dog Ember played, rather than getting soaked waiting it out.
The large-dog area in particular is huge — there’s plenty of room to play and chase, which Ember happily got engaged in! Between the sloping hill and the agility sections, there’s also lots of space for dogs to take a break or play quietly off to the side if that’s more their speed.
Parking & Getting There
Parking is available on-site at the West Bench Complex, so there’s no need to hunt for street parking nearby. Because the park sits next to Osoyoos Secondary School, it’s easy to find — just head to the school grounds and look for the fenced enclosures near the ball diamond. If you’re coming from downtown Osoyoos or the lakefront, it’s a short drive up to the West Bench area.
Its connection to the Irrigation Canal Trail also makes it a convenient stop if you’re already out walking or planning a longer outing — you can start or end your walk with some off-leash time for your dog.
Good to Know Before You Go
Surface: Grass, on sloped terrain — worth noting if you’re visiting during or after rain, since grass on a slope can get slick.
Shelter: Covered areas in both enclosures for owners, though not full weather protection for dogs.
Amenities: Basic agility equipment and drinking water in both the small-dog and large-dog sides.
Nearby trail access: The Irrigation Canal Trail runs right alongside the park, ideal for pairing an off-leash visit with an on-leash walk.
