Snow Day – A Dogs Perspective!!

One of Avy’s all time favourite things is playing in the snow. Unfortunately being a Vancouver dog she doesn’t get the opportunity all that often. So when we got some snow my friend Jen and I decided to take the dogs (Luca and Avy – best of buds) to Mosquito Park in North Van for a walk. Don’t let the name fool you – Mosquito Park (located at Fell Avenue and Larsen Road) is a great place for a walk – the trails are off-leash friendly, they have plenty of poop bag stations (not just at the trail head but throughout the park as well) and lot’s of garbage cans. Even the water fountain had a dog fountain on it.

The walk in the park started off along a path that runs alongside the creek. There is fencing to keep dogs from running down to the creek in most places but there a few areas that allow dogs to access the water. If your dog is anything like mine the cold doesn’t seem to hold them back when the opportunity for a swim presents itself!

After walking for 20 minutes or so the trail widens into a clearing. This is where Avy and Luca had the most fun – chasing each other and generally having a ball in the snow.

Since pictures speak louder than words I’m leaving this a picture post from now on. And if you’re looking for a great place for a walk in North Van, check out Mosquito Park. It’s worth the drive.
