Did you know that Whistler hosts a variety of off-leash snowshoe trails that you can explore with your dog? The Whistler Olympic park has a large number of dog friendly and off leash trails. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. You can also rent snowshoes on site if you do not have your own.
- Alexander Falls Explorer Trail: An intermediate trail which leads to a beautiful frozen waterfall. Some steep sections may not be suitable for beginners.
- Express Trail: A short but very difficult trail with steep sections. Not recommended on icy days.
- Finger Lakes Trail: One of the longer off-leash trails in the area. This trail is rated intermediate.
- Marley’s Meander: An easy, dog friendly trail suitable for beginners.
- Real Life Trail: An easy, dog friendly trail which provides a more beginner friendly route to Finger Lakes than the intermediate route.
- Shuler’s Shuffle Trail: An intermediate trail where dogs are welcome to explore off-leash.
- Treasure Trail: A short an easy trail – just 1/2 a km long. Perfect for a beginner to master snowshoeing.
Whether you’re a beginner trying out snowshoeing for the first time, or you’ve been snowshoeing for years you can find a trail that will suit your skill level. Being able to take your dog along with you for the adventure adds an extra layer of fun to the day.

The park also has a day lodge where you can stop to use the bathrooms, get a warm drink, a snack or a meal. Dogs are not allowed inside the lodge but they do have what they call a “doggie parking lot” outside of the lodge where you can park your pooch for a minute or two while you run inside.
After you’ve spent the day exploring the snowshoe trails you will probably be hungry and ready for a snack or a meal. Head up to Whistler Village and one of the many dog friendly patio’s to complete your day. You may even want to get in some shopping while you’re there. Many stores do allow dogs inside, just be sure to ask first to see what the individual store policy is!
