The Beaver Lodge Forest Lands were donated to the Province of British Columbia by the Elk River Timber Company in 1931. They now make up an extensive trail system that you can enjoy with your dog off-leash. The trails are multi-use, and you may meet mountain bikers or horses along your walk. Some trails are wheelchair accessible.
There is also a variety of wildlife that frequent the forest, including black bears, cougars, owls, bald eagles, beavers, etc. Your dog must be well behaved and under control, while you are using the trails.
We visited the trails while camping near Campbell River and had a great time exploring the forest, meeting other dogs (we didn’t see any horses on our visit), and checking out the beaver pond, hoping to spot a beaver swimming by. Avy left a tired and happy dog. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
